Saturday, May 13, 2006 i'm not sure, but i think my birthday this year is one of my birthdays where in a lot of people greeted me. ang dami! hehe.
maybe a lot of old friends remembered me, or maybe i have already made a lot of new friends ^_^ it feels quite good, but it makes me feel more guilty. why? because of all the people who greeted me, i think that less than 5% of them are people whom i know their birthdays. the other 95%, it's either i still haven't asked them or i forgot when. T_T as some of you may know, i have a poor memory. especially when it comes to the names of new acquaintances, and the birthdays of my friends. that's why i hate subjects that require memorization so much (and i love subjects that require application, e.g. math). of all my history classes, i only enjoyed 2 of them, one in high school and one in college. and both of them are about the history of asia. i particularly dislike the history of our country, maybe because it has been discussed all over again for like 7 or 8 years of my school life... anyway. i tend to forget a lot of things. i don't know if my memory is really that bad, or if it is because a lot of information is being stuffed in my brain in school (information overload). i wish we humans also have memory slots in our brains. then i could buy memory of larger capacity and insert it in my brain. so that i can remember things i usually can't. but i believe memory of humans can be expanded, it just requires a lot of time. and i do not even bother to do so because i am somewhat an impatient person. maybe this can also be the influence of today's society. modern days always wants things done as fast as possible. we already have noodles which take 3 minutes to cook. you don't even cook it, you just add hot water, and wait. even that 3-minute wait seems too long for some people. they just want things to happen in a flash. even relationships take the fast lane. in the western cultures, 2 people get to know each other, then later that day, they sleep on one bed (you know what i mean). and even the filipino culture is being influenced by the western world. it seems that the filipinos are also taking the "liberal route", people want freedom, maybe too much freedom than they can handle. maybe this attitude of rushing things can also be the cause of the shortening of the lifespan of people (?). i mean, look at the bible. during the time of adam, they get to live for about 900 years. imagine if we all live for as long as 900 years. even in the late old testament, people still get to live for over a hundred years. abraham (correct me if i'm mistaken) even had his first child at the age of 100+ (?). anyway... i think i've gotten far and have already thought of a lot of things... it's about time for me to sleep. good night everyone ^_^ macky
